About Doug Bristor

Doug Brisotr
Doug Bristor is from Cambridge and has a background in ICT and Fractal modelling.

Bristorbrot

In his twenties he devoloped a fractal algorithm to generate a 3D type Mandelbrot set, known as the Bristorbrot.

Complex numbers operations can be thought of a rotations along an axis.

Rotating it upwards 90° [i] , then turning the direction 90° and rotate backwards [j], becomes -j. Defined as:

i × j = -j

Rotating it backwards 90° [j] , then turning the direction 90° and rotate upwards [i], becomes i. Defined as:

j × i = -i

Initial plot with modern render overlay

zk+1 = zk + c

Around the same time as developing this fractal and coding, he also was intriged at designing a simple rocket type stove that could made out of recyled tins.

Education and Teaching

While his own children grow up, he worked for many years in the education, with students that had suffered emotional and behavioural issues.

Along with being enviromentally focused Doug has always been interested in simple solutions for complex problems.
During his time teaching he became aware of poor nutrition on not just physical healthbut also emotional well-being.

Health and Information

Although there is lots of information for the positive impact of healthy diet, there is still much contreversy to what is a healthy diet. So upon leaving teaching, he provided assistance and support and produced a number of factsheets and videos for the UK based, plant-based doctors group, https://plantbasedhealthprofessionals.com.
Rethinking Food and Agriculture

With support from Dr Shireen Kassam, he produced charts and data for a published research paper in the International Journal of Disease Reversal and Prevention (IJDRP)

and contributed to the chapter; Healthy diets as a guide to responsible food systems in the academic research book Rethinking Food and Agriculture: New Ways Forward published by Elsevier.

He is continually developing his skills in programming, data collection and visualisation he is committed to presenting scientific information that promotes a healthful, ethical and sustainable way of living.
